Larger than the classic n°08, ideal for DIY or camping!
This N°10 is designed as a multi-purpose knife. With its 10cm unalloyed steel blade and hard beech handle, it's an ideal companion for gardening, working with difficult materials or camping, and will stay with you long and efficiently.
With this carbon steel version, Opinel offers you its famous Folding knife in its most authentic version. Indeed, it's this unalloyed steel that has been making Opinel knives for over 120 years. Thanks to its high carbon content, it guarantees an exceptionally hard cutting edge, which is far superior to that of a stainless steel blade. Your blade stays sharp longer and is easy to re-sharpen. However, the high carbon content of this steel makes it extremely hard, but also highly susceptible to corrosion. That's why you shouldn't leave it in a damp environment (the dishwasher, for example, is a no-no!), and it's essential to dry it with a cloth after each wash. It's also important to know that, over time, the color of the blade will inevitably change (and small spots may appear), depending on the level of humidity in the air or the acidity of the food being cut, but this is perfectly normal! If you want to give it extra care, you can oil it from time to time.
The other essential component of an opinel is, of course, the handle. Carved from a single piece of French beech, it is extremely robust, giving the knife rigidity and durability. It is also varnished to protect it from stains and humidity. Its design, unchanged since 1890, is one of the key features that has made an Opinel so distinctively recognizable for generations. It fits perfectly in both hand and pocket.
Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, and since generalized on most of the brand's knives, the safety ring characteristic of Opinel folding knives also equips this N°10. By sliding, this stainless steel ring locks the blade in the open or closed position for optimum safety in use and transport.
The crowned hand, symbol of the Savoyard brand since 1909, is stamped on the blade to certify the provenance of this authentic piece of French heritage.
