Naniwa offers top-quality Japanese sharpening stones. They are available in many different grits, from a very thick grit for repairing even the most damaged blades, to an extremely fine grit for extra polishing. Naniwa also offers you a choice of different ranges, so you can choose the one that suits you best.

The Naniwa Traditional Stone range contains stones for traditional use, as the name suggests. The stones are less hard than those in the Super Stone or Professional ranges, but are still very easy to use. Pleasant to use, they are suitable for all users, including sharpening beginners.

T-210 Traditional Stone 1000 sharpening stone details

The 1000 grit is considered medium. This is the most versatile grit you can find, as it is suitable for regular maintenance of your knives. It can be used on blades in good condition, restoring the sharpness of knives that may be slightly dull.

This Traditional Stone is a water-based whetstone, so it's important to immerse it in water to prepare it for sharpening. To do this, immerse it in water 20-30 minutes before sharpening.

When sharpening is complete, you can brush the stone to remove any accumulated steel residue, then allow it to dry completely before storing it in a dry place. Place the stone in the open air, away from any source of heat. The heat will build up too quickly and the stone may crack.

If you wish to stabilize the stone for safe use, we recommend you opt for the appropriate stand.
