Details of Amici knives
The forged blades of these knives are made of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, an alloy of chromium and carbon that resists shock and corrosion. A forged blade is shaped from a single block of steel at high temperature, using a press: a technique that requires expertise and lends the knife good balance.
Their hardness on the Rockwell scale is 58HRC: blades are long-lasting and easy to sharpen.
The handles are made of olive wood, reputed to be extremely durable. The Amici range bears an Italian name because of the olive wood, which comes to us from Calabria. What's more, it's also very dense, making it resistant to humidity. They feature 2 rivets that hold the full tang blade in the handle, ensuring excellent knife reliability. The handles are ergonomically shaped for a comfortable grip, especially during prolonged use.
To care for your knives, hand-wash them with a soft sponge and wipe dry immediately before storing them in the block. You can oil them with mineral oil to preserve or restore their shine.
These knives have a sober design: wood being a living material, your knives all have a unique grain! They're perfect for adding a warm touch to your kitchen.
The Amici kitchen block in detail
This block is also made of olive wood for durability and resistance. It's surrounded by quality Italian cowhide: its marked stitching adds a detail that adds cachet to your block.
It has 6 slots 23cm deep and of different widths: 2 slots of 2.5cm, 2 slots of 5cm and 2 slots of 5.9cm. In addition to the knives in this set, you can, for example, place a sharpening steel (max. 1.3cm diameter).
This block is very practical, as it enables you to store your knives safely and access them easily when you're cooking.
