Yu Kurosaki: Takefu 's soul in every blade
Yu Kurosaki is an unheralded Japanese blacksmith based in the heart of Takefu Knife Village, Fukui Prefecture. Since his early days as a blacksmith, he has distinguished himself through exceptional technical mastery and a rare eye for detail. His visual signature? Spectacular hammering inspired by nature and Japanese mythology.
The Fujin series, dedicated to the god of wind, is one of his most famous creations. It combines cutting efficiency, aesthetics and durability. Each Yu Kurosaki knife is the fruit of entirely handcrafted work, designed to last and perform.
An artisan Japanese knife forged by a renowned master
The Yu Kurosaki Fujin 16.5 cm SG2 turquoise santoku knife embodies all the finesse of high-end Japanese cutlery. It is forged by Yu Kurosaki, one of Japan's most respected master blacksmiths, based at the renowned Takefu Knife Village.
Its name, "Fujin", refers to the Japanese wind god, whose spirit is captured in the hammering of the blade. Each piece is a fusion of tradition, exceptional cutting performance and unique contemporary aesthetics.
SG2 blade for outstanding cutting performance
The 16.5 cm blade is forged according to the San Maï structure, emblematic of Japanese know-how. It features an SG2 steel core, a premium powdered steel containing around 1.3% carbon. This core is then sandwiched between two layers of softer stainless steel.
With a hardness of 63 HRC, SG2 steel ensures incredible wire retention. It enables ultra-precise cutting, even on the most delicate ingredients.
The hand-hammered finish, achieved with unprecedented expertise, reduces the adherence of food to the blade, while adding a unique aesthetic to the knife. The flat cutting edge guarantees a linear, even cut.
A noble handle with controlled comfort
The knife's handle is made of ebony wood, renowned for its stability and resistance to humidity. It is combined with a bolster also carved from ebony, for sober elegance and optimum strength. This noble wood is timeless.
The traditional octagonal shape ensures an ergonomic, ambidextrous grip, facilitating precision work even during prolonged use, whether you're right- or left-handed.
A natural turquoise ring enhances the handle. Each piece is carefully hand-fitted, and each stone has its own hue and marbling. They give this knife a precious dimension of character.
