The replacement plate is ideal when your Atoma Economy 400Sharpening stone no longer sharpens. It saves you the hassle of having to buy a complete sharpening stone again, and saves you money.

In fact, the original stone has been designed so that you can easily replace its abrasive surface. The diamond plate is securely bonded to the base of the aluminum stone using a powerful double-sided adhesive tape. The new plate features the same adhesive strip.

The surface of this plate is covered with numerous abrasive particles distributed in small, firmly electro-bonded dots. In this way, the particles ensure that residues and water run off smoothly, and you can be sure that they won't come loose.

The grit this plate is #400, a coarsegrit ideally suited to damaged or slightly chipped blades. It removes a lot of material to recreate a sharp edge on your knife blades.

An easy-to-install diamond plate

Here's how to replace the worn plate on your Sharpening stone:

1. Heat the plate to be replaced by placing the stone in hot water for about 15 minutes, so that the glue can be removed more easily.

2. Then detach the old plate from the aluminum base, using a tool such as a flathead screwdriver as a lever. Carry out this step gently so as not to damage the stone or injure yourself.

3. Using acetone or white spirit, clean the aluminum base. This will ensure total removal of glue residues, as well as effective degreasing.

4. Place the new plate on the stone base, aligning them well. Be as precise as possible and press firmly.

Congratulations! You've successfully replaced the plate on your Atoma Sharpening stone, and it's as good as new! Like the rest of our stones, the replacement plate is made in Japan by Tsuboman. Durability is a must!
