The King KDS 1000/6000 sharpening stone is a combination of the Deluxe 1000 stone and the S-1 6000 stone. With this double-sided stone, you benefit from an efficient stone for acomplete sharpening job on your blades. It is suitable for both expert sharpeners, such as professionals, and beginners.
The brick face of the stone has a 1000 grit. This is considered a medium grit and can be used on a wide range of knives. Versatility comes first! In fact, this grit can be used to roughen the edge of a knife with a high HRC whose cutting edge is starting to perform less well. This side of the stone is also suitable for lightly polishing the edge of knives with a low or medium HRC, which do not need to be sharpened with higher grits as their edge would not last long.
The white side of the stone has a 6000 grit, considered a very fine grit. You can use this side of the stone on your high HRC knives, to bring out their full cutting potential. Thanks to this fine grain, you can give them a razor-sharp finish for razor-sharp cuts.
This double-sided whetstone is made of a solid composite material for efficient, easy sharpening. It's a traditional water whetstone that requires one step of preparation.
The stone needs to be soaked in water for 15 minutes before use, to ensure that it is completely saturated. Keep the stone moist during sharpening. This facilitates sharpening and protects your blades.
Once you've finished sharpening your blade, rinse it under hot water and dry it thoroughly. Rinse the whetstone with clean water to remove any small steel residues, and let it air-dry before storing.
