From Seki, the cradle of Japanese cutlery, Mcusta designs top-of-the-range folding knives. The brand has succeeded in combining traditional Japanese know-how with cutting-edge technology to offer folding knives with a perfect finish. Every Mcusta knife is hand-finished. They are systematically tested by Japanese knifemakers and honed to a superior cutting edge.
This Mcusta Bamboo MC.145 knife is both beautiful and efficient, and is sure to win you over...
The 7.2cm blade is made of SPG2 steel. This is a Japanese steel widely used in the design of top-of-the-range knives. SPG2 steel has a high carbon content, which means that the blade is hard, reaching 60 HRC. This hardness is necessary to design a sharp blade that retains its edge for a long time. This type of steel requires very little resharpening. SPG2 steel is relatively resistant to corrosion, but care should be taken to dry the blade with a cloth after cleaning to preserve its beauty.
Once laser-cut, the blade is hand-sharpened by a professional Japanese cutler. This is one of the reasons why the quality of the cutting edge is so high.
The 10cm handle combines steel and wood, in keeping with the brand's traditional yet modern spirit. Here, Mcusta has chosen a rare and precious wood: ironwood. This is a very strong wood from the Arizona desert, resistant to external aggression. This age-old wood is one of the densest in existence. Its color is naturally dark and its veins well marked. This warm color contrasts perfectly with the 66-layer Damascus steel bolster. Often used for Japanese knife blades, damascus is rarely found on knife handles. The handle is shaped like a bamboo stalk, recalling the origins of this folding knife. There's a serrated section below the bolster to place your finger and prevent it from shaving the sharp-edged blade.
A hammered steel clip is attached to the right-hand side of the handle. This allows you to carry your knife without a sheath, and the beauty of the clip will look great on your jacket or trouser pocket.
The blade unfolds smoothly thanks to a double thumb stud. Thanks to the liner lock, the blade locks into place on opening for secure use.
The Mcusta MC.145 Bamboo Japanese folding knife is without a doubt a gentlemen's folding knife that will be a pleasure to receive as a gift!
