Since 1890, the Opinel workshops in the heart of Savoy have been making authentic knives that are now part of France's heritage. This Opinel serpette will be perfect for your daily picking! Thanks to its curved blade, this knife is very useful for cutting small branches, or for picking flowers and fruit!
Every element of this knife is designed according to the Opinel philosophy: simplicity, durability and practicality!
The blade:
Its Sandvik stainless steel blade measures 10 cm, a material that is capable of withstanding shocks, giving this Opinel knifegreat strength. What's more, its carbon content gives it an ideal cutting edge without being susceptible to corrosion! Finally, the shape of the blade guarantees precise cutting of your food or shrubs.
- The tempering process: the blade is heated to over 800°C and then rapidly cooled down.
- the tempering operation: once heated again, the blade is then cooled very slowly.
The cutting edge is then sharpened at 40°, giving you both excellent cutting performance and good resistance to wear.
The handle:
The handle is made of beech, a fine-grained, homogeneous wood offering excellent mechanical resistance. To protect the knife from external aggression, the handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and stains.
The ferrule:
The ferrule is a very important element: it forms the junction between the blade and the handle, giving the whole piece added strength.
Note that the ferrule can be turned. A steel ring slides into place, allowing you to lock the blade in the open position. Safety is therefore enhanced during use.
Maintenance:
To clean this knife, we recommend washing it by hand with a sponge or clean cloth dampened with lukewarm water, then wiping it dry immediately afterwards.
Please note: it is absolutely essential to avoid running the knife under water, as this will cause the handle to deform!
