The sharpening stones in the Glass Stone range each have a different grit, so they complement each other to give your blades an ideal edge finish. You can choose the grit best suited to your needs!
The grain of the stone is finer than that of a standard whetstone. Its abrasive part is made of aluminum oxide and mounted on a thin tempered glass plate. This plate ensures that the stone will not deform despite the many uses you will make of it, while remaining perfectly flat. In this way, the stone retains its original shape over time.
With its 2000 grit (7.35 micron), this stone is ideal for maintaining the sharpness of your rather stiff blades. Its high abrasive power ensures rapid sharpening. Its practical hard grain is also suitable for so-called hard steels (e.g. Shirogami steel). Such a grit gives a razor-sharp finish to a medium HRC, but can also be used to maintain the edge of a very rigid knife (if the blade has just started to lose its edge).
This stone and its counterparts in the Glass Stone range are Splash & Go stones: they don't need to be pre-soaked like a standard whetstone. Simply moisten before use. This Glass Stone saves you time.
The stone ensures even sharpening of your blades thanks to the high abrasiveness of the aluminum oxide particles and the fact that they are very uniform in structure. You work cleanly and can continue sharpening with a higher grit if required.
For easy, stable use, we recommend the use of a suitable stand.
Shapton stones are top-of-the-range sharpening stones renowned for their long-lasting effectiveness. The brand offers different ranges to suit all your needs.
These stones are renowned for their smooth wear and high performance, which is why they are so appreciated by professionals in the food and beverage industry. Note that these are hard stones that are suitable for use by sharpening experts. Novices may find this difficult. However, their hardness is a real advantage in terms of service life: as mentioned above, the harder a stone is, the less quickly it will wear out.
