Edo cookware stands out for its blend of traditional and modern styling. Alessi called on Patricia Urquiola to design this 7-piece set, which is an everyday essential.
Patricia Urquiola is one of the world's most fashionable designers. This Spanish but Italian at heart is characterized by a design of ornamentation, filled with poetry and softness. Urquiola studied architecture with Achille Castiglioni as her mentor, and opened her own agency in 2001. Her reputation is international, and she collaborates with some of the world's leading publishers. Primarily a furniture designer, her finest works are exhibited around the world, at MoMa for example. Patricia Urquiola was also voted Designer of the Year in 2008 at the Now! Design à Vivre.
Edo is a cookware set that perfectly represents Patricia Urquiola's design vision. Edo takes its name from the Latin word "edere", meaning "to eat". It's also the ancient name of Japan's capital, Tokyo. The style of the cookware is inspired by traditional Japanese kitchen utensils, while combining modern, high-end materials. A clever blend of cultures, Edo responds perfectly to the evolution of our society and new ways of cooking.
Here is the composition of the cookware set:
- 1 long-handled saucepan 16cm - 1.3L
- 1 pot 20cm - 4,9L
- 1 stewpot 20cm - 2,8L
- 1 slow cooker 24cm - 3,25L
- 1 lid 16cm
- 1 lid 20cm
- 1 lid 24cm
All our cookware is made from 18/10 stainless steel. This alloy is renowned for its strength and excellent resistance to corrosion. 18/10 stainless steel ensures long-lasting cookware. A magnetic steel base completes the range of utensils, ensuring ideal heat distribution and even cooking. This base also enables the cookware to be used on all burners, including induction.
Edo comes with 3 lids. Shaped to fit the cookware, they are ideal for simmering. Like the cookware, the lids are made of 18/10 stainless steel, with the same sturdy, corrosion-resistant features.
All 7 elements of the cookware set have handles, knobs and handles for easy handling. An advantage when moving a hot pan to a trivet, for example. The handles and knobs are also made of 18/10 stainless steel, but have a brown PVD coating that adds a touch of elegance and contrasts with Edo's mirror finish.
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a technique which, in addition to providing an aesthetic finish, treats the surface on which it is deposited. A very thin layer of metal increases resistance to wear and scratches, thus extending the life of the utensil or object to which the metal is applied.
Your Edo cookware set is complete, versatile and will reliably accompany you for many years to come. Indeed, Patricia Urquiola has chosen modern materials and manufacturing techniques, bringing you timeless, top-of-the-range designer cookware. A veritable compendium of efficiency and elegance!
