WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A POT AND A DUTCH OVEN?
The marmite is a tubular cooking utensil with two handles, while the faitout is somewhere between the marmite and the cocotte, with two side handles. The marmite is therefore generally larger, and is more likely to be used in professional kitchens. It's true that using a large 50-liter pot would not be very practical in a domestic kitchen! WHICH STEWPOT FOR MY KITCHEN?
Choosing a stewpot depends on a number of criteria, including material, size, capacity and compatibility. When it comes to materials, you're spoilt for choice! The stainless steel stewpot is the best known and most widely used by professionals for its robustness, durability and easy maintenance. They are ideal for long, slow cooking. Ceramic stewpans are extremely durable, and cook quickly at high temperatures. Ceramic is considered a natural non-stick material! Ceramic stewpots range in size from 20 cm to 30 cm. As a guide, a 20 cm stewpot is suitable for 2 to 3 people, while a 28 cm stewpot is more suited to cooking for 6 to 8 people! Finally, before you buy, it's important to take into account the type of cooker you're using, so you can opt for an induction pot or induction stewpot if necessary.
