Shapton 's Glass Stone range offers multiple stones with different grits to suit your needs. The stones can be combined to give your knives a totally personalized sharpening. Practical, depending on the condition of your blades!
The stone shown here is much finer than traditional sharpening stones. It has an abrasive part made of aluminum oxide fixed to a thin plate of tempered glass to prevent it from deforming. You can use it for long hours of sharpening, as its surface remains perfectly flat.
It has a very fine 6000 grit (2.45 micron) that is perfect for polishing blade edges. This grit gives a razor-sharp finish. With its high abrasive power, the stone enables rapid sharpening. This stone is also recommended for hard steels, such as powder steels.
Glass Stones are so-called Splash & Go stones: they don't need to be pre-soaked like conventional sharpening stones. Simply moisten them and they're ready to use! So you save time.
This Shapton Glass Stone guarantees even sharpening of your knife thanks to the highly homogeneous structure of the aluminum oxide particles. The result is sharp, clean work and, if you wish and your knife allows it, you can continue sharpening on an even higher-grain stone.
To facilitate the use of your stone, we recommend that you use the appropriate support to stabilize it.
Shapton sharpening stones are top-of-the-range stones renowned for their long-lasting sharpness and effectiveness. Available in several ranges, they can be adapted to your specific needs.
They are known to wear very slowly. In fact, they are appreciated for their performance by professionals in the food industry. These stones are hard and are therefore recommended for users who are accustomed to sharpening, rather than for beginners. Note that their hardness is a real advantage when it comes to longevity: the harder the stone, the less quickly it wears out!
