Shapton Japanese stones are top-of-the-range stones renowned for their long-lasting effectiveness. Shapton offers a range of stones to suit all your needs.
Restoration professionals appreciate these stones for their performance. They are hard and wear very slowly. Because of their hardness, these stones are better suited to experienced sharpeners than to beginners. Hardness is a real advantage for their longevity: the harder a stone is, the slower it wears.
The Glass Stone range comprises stones with different grains that complement each other. They enable you to obtain a perfect edge on all your blades. All you need to do is Adapt the grain you need to the condition of your blades!
Here we present a stone that is much finer than a standard whetstone. Its abrasive part, made of aluminum oxide, rests on a thin plate of tempered glass, so it won't warp despite use. The stone remains flat during sharpening and retains its original shape.
It has a 16000 grain (0.92 micron) which is highly effective on very high HRC alloys (minimum 63). As the stone's grain is extremely fine, only these alloys can withstand it. This stone enables you to achieve a very thorough razor polish, right down to a mirror finish. We recommend that you do not use the stone on an alloy with an HRC of less than 63, as it will not be able to withstand the very sharp edge.
Like other Glass Stones, this one is Splash & Go: this means it doesn't need to be pre-soaked like a standard whetstone. Simply moisten it before use to prepare it. By avoiding pre-soaking, this stone saves you time.
Thanks to Glass Stone, you can be sure of even sharpening of your blades. This is due to the highly homogeneous structure of the aluminum oxide particles. The job is done cleanly and quickly!
To simplify the use of the stone, we recommend the appropriate support for greater stability.
