Naniwa Japanese sharpening stones are top-of-the-range products renowned for their long-lasting durability and high efficiency. The stones are available in different ranges to suit all your sharpening needs.
Naniwa is a brand much appreciated by professionals. Note that the Super Stone range is recommended for experienced users. Indeed, as these stones are a little softer than the Professional range, for example, it is easier for the blade to "sink" into the stones during sharpening, which could damage your knife.
The Naniwa Super Stone range contains several stones with different grits that you can add to for total sharpness. Or simply choose one to suit your needs.
This is a relatively thin stone, measuring just 1cm thick. However, its composition means it wears less quickly and lasts longer. It has a high concentration of abrasive particles for rapid knife sharpening. The binder used by Naniwa is a product of its own design: it is a synthetic resin that agglomerates the material. The quality of the binder is recognized and gives the stone greater resistance, particularly to chipping.
The stone's 800 grain makes it highly effective for restoring the sharpness of knives that are still cutting but with difficulty. The medium-thick grain gently removes material.
Like the rest of the stones in the Super Stone range, this stone is Splash & Go: it doesn't need to be immersed in water, as traditional water stones require. Simply dampen the surface for easy, time-saving preparation.
Once you've finished sharpening, brush the stone thoroughly to remove any accumulated steel residue. Let the stone dry thoroughly in the open air and wait until it is completely dry before storing. When drying, keep away from sources of heat which could cause the stone to crack.
We recommend using the stone with a suitable support. In addition to stabilizing the stone, it raises it for easier use.
