Les ateliers Chabret present theirmodern yet authentic billot, designed in collaboration with French designer François Bauchet .
Since 1885, the Chabret workshops have combined a century of know-how with the most modern techniques. With this log, created by renowned designer François Bauchet, Chabret once again demonstrates this philosophy. By combining pure, elegant lines with the rusticity of solid hornbeam wood, Chabret has succeeded in offering a log with timeless charm, equally at home in a modern kitchen or a more rustic setting.
The fruit of over 100 years of know-how, Chabret planks and logs are the durable tools par excellence. One of the best examples of this is the wood technique, known as "de bout" , used on this worktop. This technique uses wood cut perpendicular to the grain, as if it were being sliced.
In this way, the resulting work surface presents the wood fibers in their full width. Shocks and blows during cutting are therefore applied in the direction of the fiber, which absorbs them much more effectively. As a result, your board cannot split or crumble. This technique, combined with the careful selection of the finest hornbeam from the forests of the Jura, guarantees you a board ofexceptional durability .
The result is a professional-quality log, complying with NF food hygiene standards, that will always remain clean and healthy, even after intensive use.
The world's top chefs have all remarked on the quality of Chabret products. Alain Ducasse's restaurants all over the world are equipped with them. Butcher Hugo Desnoyer has had his exceptional butcher shop in the 16th arrondissement of Paris supplied by Chabret artisans. Chabret boards have even made a name for themselves on television, where they were offered to candidates in a cooking show.
Care and maintenance :
If wood is not regularly nourished, it tends to warp: as wood works, it shrinks and expands under the effect of humidity and temperature, eventually causing cracks. To avoid this, this type of high-end board needs to be maintained with mineral oil or special waxes. After each wash, dry the board with a cloth. Once dry, coat with cutting-board oil and rub with a cloth or paper towel. Ideally, oil the board until it no longer absorbs oil. We recommend oiling the board once a week.
