With this Higonokami pocket knife by Kanetsune, you'll appreciate all the expertise of this traditional Japanese cutlery manufacturer, established in Seki City (the country's cutlery capital) since 1964.
Higonokami is a name full of meaning in Japan: on the one hand, it means "Lord of Higo", Higo being the ancient name of the Kyushu province where this famous model was born. On the other hand,"Higo no Kami" was also an aristocratic title awarded to the most valiant samurai.
Kanetsune has chosen to use one of the finest Japanese steels to shape its San Mai blade, Super Blue Steel Core, which offers a razor-sharp edge and holds its edge for a long time.
The handle is made of brass, which has the main advantage of resisting shock and rust. Its golden color contrasts perfectly with the steel of the blade. An eyelet is incorporated at the end of the handle to allow a small cord to be slipped inside, a practical feature to avoid the risk of loss.
The final detail, this time an aesthetic one, adds even more charm to this beautiful cutting object: the easily visible Japanese characters on the two main parts of the knife (handle and blade).
As carbon is oxidizable, the knife should be washed by hand and wiped directly with a soft cloth. Do not put in the dishwasher or soak in water. It's important to note that, despite careful care, a carbon knife may change color slightly over time - this is perfectly normal.
