This Sabatier Éléphant Idéal Forgéparing knife is a knife for everyday use!
Sabatier Éléphant is a brand of Thiers Issard, a French cutlery manufacturer based in Thiers. The Ideal Forgé range is manufactured in the brand's own workshops, with the aim of offering you top-quality kitchen knives.
The blade of this paring knife measures 10cm and is made of 4116 stainless steel. This alloy contains chromium, vanadium and molybdenum to make the blade resistant to corrosion, deformation and wear. It is also shock-resistant.
With a hardness of 55HRC, the blade of this knife is easy to maintain on a daily basis using a Sharpening steel.
The blade is called full tang because it runs the full length of the handle. This shape is obtained by forging the blade by hand. It is hot-forged, then set in 2 oil baths (tempering and tempering) to ensure a sturdy blade. Finally, the blade is ground, again by hand, using leather rollers to sharpen it and give it its cutting edge.
The knife's handle is made of black nylon, a synthetic material used in the kitchen for its excellent strength and ease of cleaning by hand. The handle is pressed against the blade with 3 aluminum rivets for added strength.
Combined with a round bolster, this handle ensures a comfortable grip and light balance. The knife's thin guard prevents your fingers from slipping on the blade for safe use.
We recommend that you wash your knife by hand and dry it immediately with a clean cloth, so that it lasts longer.
