Description

The Samura Blacksmith knife lets you feel at ease in all your daily cutting tasks. It's easy to use and pleasing to the eye: a good choice for regular use.

This Samura knife is made in China by a team of cutlery experts! In fact, one province in southern China has been famous for knife-making for 1500 years.

This 17cmnakiri knife has a typically Japanese shape. Its wide, rectangular blade is ideal for cutting vegetables. The gestures are both precise and rapid. Once you've finished cutting, you can use the blade as a small "scoop" to move the cut pieces from one container to another.

Blade :

Made of AUS-8 stainless steel, with 0.8% carbon and 14.5% chromium. The former has an impact on the knife's rigidity, while the latter is essential for oxidation resistance. The result is a high-performance, easy-to-maintain alloy.

The blade hardness is 59/60 HRC on the Rockwell scale. This is a good index, showing that the knife will keep its edge longer than a knife with less carbon, and that it is still easy to maintain when you feel it starting to lose its effectiveness. You can also maintain it with a Sharpening stone.

The knife's cutting edge is beveled and symmetrically cut. The knife's final cutting edge is made by hand, on a 5000 grit stone. From the very first use, the knife cuts with precision!

Handle:

The handle is made of micarta, a tough, durable composite material. Composed of 40% resin and 60% linen, it is durable and resistant to temperature variations: for example, it can withstand heat of up to 150°C.

It is also highly resistant to moisture. Its oval shape allows ambidextrous use. Its black color contrasts well with the metal ferrule and the rest of the blade. The final look of the knife is clean and timeless. It will appeal to all cooks.

Storage and care :

It comes in a decorated box, in which the knife is wrapped in a beautiful fabric pouch with Koi carp motifs, which create a beautiful Japanese spirit. The perfect gift box for a cook!

To best care for the knife, wash it by hand (in warm water, with a non-abrasive sponge), then wipe dry with a soft cloth before storing away from moisture.

Very nice knife, good finish, razor-sharp edge, good-quality steel. A word of caution on the hammered part, which can oxidize if not wiped clean. Excellent value for money.

Very good knife, good grip, very pleasant to use The cutting edge lasts a long time. The only fault is the darker part of the side (the black worked part) rusts if you are not careful to dry the knife well.
