With this log, developed by French designer François Bauchet, Chabret combines authenticity and modernity in a durable, practical and elegant utensil.
Since 1885, the Chabret workshops have combined their historic know-how with the most modern techniques. With this log designed by renowned designer François Bauchet, the Chabret workshops once again demonstrate this philosophy. By combining pure, elegant lines with the practical rusticity of solid hornbeam wood, Chabret has succeeded in offering a log with a timeless lustre, equally at home in a traditional kitchen or an ultra-modern setting.
The fruit of over 100 years' know-how, Chabret planks and logs are the durable tools par excellence. Manufactured using the "end grain" technique, this worktop will stand the test of time. Thanks to this process, hornbeam wood, already renowned for its excellent resistance, offers you the best in terms of shock absorption.
In fact, Chabret worktops are composed of an assembly of blocks cut perpendicular to the wood fibres. As a result, the knocks and scratches sustained during cutting are applied in the direction of the fiber, which absorbs them much more effectively than when they are applied perpendicularly. As a result, there's no risk of your board splitting or crumbling. This technique, combined with the careful selection of the finest hornbeam from Jura forests, guarantees a board of exceptional durability.
Another advantage is that your board remains smooth and nick-free for a long time, reducing the risk of bacterial growth. The result is a professional-quality log, meeting NF food hygiene standards, that will always remain clean and healthy, even after intensive use.
Leading chefs have all remarked on the quality of Chabret products. Alain Ducasse's restaurants all over the world are equipped with them. Butcher Hugo Desnoyer has had his exceptional butcher shop in the 16th arrondissement of Paris supplied by Chabret craftsmen. Chabret boards even shone on television when a cooking show offered them to its contestants.
Care and maintenance :
If wood is not regularly nourished, it tends to warp: as wood works, it shrinks and expands under the effect of humidity and temperature, eventually causing cracks. To avoid this, this type of high-end board needs to be maintained with mineral oil or special waxes. After each wash, dry the board with a cloth. Once dry, coat with cutting-board oil and rub with a cloth or paper towel. Ideally, oil the board until it no longer absorbs oil. We recommend oiling the board once a week.
