Sabatier is renowned in France and abroad for its expertise in cutlery. Thanks to more than 100 years of expertise, the manufacturer has now accumulated all this know-how, and offers you quality knives with a recognizable design!
This knife block features 5 of the most widely used blades in the kitchen. They are part of the Ideal 100% forged stainless steelrange.
Here's what they're made of:
- 1 10cm paring knife (small and handy, it cuts and peels small fruits and vegetables)
- 1 12cm serrated utility knife (ideal for complicated vegetables such as tomatoes with their tough skin)
- 1 20cm carving knife (perfect for clean slices of large cuts of meat)
- 1 20cm chef's knife (the multi-purpose knife par excellence)
- 1 20cm serrated bread knife (slices bread and buns perfectly)
So you can be truly versatile in your slicing and tackle a variety of food families.
Here are the technical details of the Ideal 100% forged stainless steel knives:
- The blade of each of these knives is made of top-quality stainless steel produced in Grenoble, France. This steel resists corrosion.
It contains 0.5% carbon, making it easy to sharpen. What's more, because it's not excessively hard, it's more resistant to shocks. In fact, very solid blades break more easily if put to the test. This steel remains rather supple, and will tend to deform rather than break cleanly if subjected to impact.
The blade is also entirely forged, meaning that it has been fashioned from a bar of steel, to avoid sticking points or welds. The steel bar used in this process will form the blade, bolster and tang, all in one piece.
The steel is shaped using high heat and a press to give it its final form. This process requires unique know-how : each knife is "fuller" in the hand, more balanced, and above all ultra-strong.
- Sharpening is done by hand and with a grinding wheel, for an impeccable finish by experts! You'll feel it from the very first cut...
- The handle is made of black POM, a durable polymer. The grip is ideal, and the 3 stainless steel through rivets give the whole knife a pleasant balance.
The block is made of black-lacquered walnut wood. It adds a designer touch to your worktop! Walnut is a wood with a very interesting long-term patina.
The mix of materials makes this block a decorative element: its clean, straight lines bring a contemporary touch to your interior, while the wood adds warmth.
Maintenance: knives should be washed by hand and wiped dry after washing to maintain their original appearance.
