Shapton 's well-known Kuromaku stones are available in a variety of grits to ensure a perfect, complete finish for your blades, whether you need a thick grit for a dull blade or a very fine grit for a razor-sharp polish.
Kuromaku is Shapton's thickest stone. It is almost 1.5cm thick and made of ceramic. Its abrasive particles are evenly distributed over its entire surface, guaranteeing the fastest possible sharpening. What's more, ceramic is a very hard material that prevents the stone from wearing out too quickly, despite repeated use.
This stone is highly appreciated by professionals for its strength and efficiency. It is ideal for intensive use.
It has a 12000 grit: a very high grit, one of the finest, ideal for finishing sharpening. Specially designed for highly rigid alloys with very high hardness, 12000 grit reveals a razor-sharp, mirror-like edge on your blades.
Like the rest of the stones in the range, this one is a Splash & Go stone: it's important not to pre-soak the stone. Simply moisten before use and you're done.
The stone is delivered in a multi-purpose protective box. In addition to its protective function, the box can also be used as a base for the stone. With its non-slip rubber feet, the box makes the stone perfectly stable. It also has a grooved surface that ensures good ventilation even when the stone is stored.
Be sure to air-dry the stone before storing, and avoid placing it too close to a heat source, as this may cause it to crack.
Shapton is a Japanese brand offering top-quality sharpening stones. They are renowned for their performance and excellent durability over time. Several ranges of stones are available to suit all your needs, including Kuromaku and Glass Stone.
With their lower wear capacity, Shapton's excellent stones are highly appreciated by restoration professionals.
