Suehiro is a Japanese specialist in professional sharpening. The ergonomic whetstones he develops are durable, and even completely suitable for sharpening novices.
To offer you quality products, Suehiro takes care of every stage in the manufacture of its stones, from research and development to production.
To give you an idea, here are the different stages in the manufacture of Suehiro stones:
- Mixing and stirring ingredients in large vats
- Press each stone into a rectangular shape
- Allow shaped stones to dry for a short time
- Bake to set
- Carry out the final moulding by hand (a craftsman passes the stone over a grinding wheel to ensure a clean finish)
- Quality control before the stones are placed in the packaging
This Cerax 10000 whetstone is part of a range of stones fired at very high temperatures, making them more resistant to cracking. So they're long-lasting and easy to use - big pluses!
Its #10000 grit is considered ultra-fine (it's one of the highest we offer), so it's recommended for extra-deep edge finishing, to develop razor-sharp cutting ability.
This stone is said to be "non-absorbent", so it doesn't need to be soaked before use.
After a few moments' use, you'll notice a small colored sludge forming on the surface of the stone, and this is perfectly normal. This "sludge" is even essential, as it helps to sharpen the knife, so don't clean it during the process.
After use, you can rinse the surface and clean it with a soft brush. Wipe with a dry cloth, then leave to dry in a room at room temperature (keep out of direct sunlight for faster drying).
Let's talk about complementary accessories:
A small white Nagura stone (approx. 7.2 x 1.7 x 0.9 cm) is supplied with the stone. This is used to create the famous mud that facilitates the stone's action.
The main stone is glued to a white base to stabilize it during use.
A box allows you to store it, but it can also be used as a sharpening support when in use. The box has a space for the Nagura stone. Its black feet are removable.
Additional information: the dimensions of the stone may vary by a few millimetres, and its weight by a few grams - this is perfectly normal.
