The Suehiro flattening plate enables you to care for your whetstones quickly and efficiently.
Its dimensions allow you to use it on all kinds of stones, even the largest!
To do this, first soak your whetstones (if you use water). Once this is done, you also need to put a little water on the plate, to facilitate movement.
You can now slide your damaged stone back and forth (you can even make circles with it). A little sludge will be created, and this is perfectly normal - it's the result of friction between the materials.
Note, however, that the flattening plate will remove material from your stones, so it's normal if they become thinner over time.
The plate has two different faces:
Grit #20: (this is the coarser-grained face) it will polish hard surfaces, or those that are damaged and not very straight. This restores their original flatness.
Grit #120: (this is the finer-grained side) for finer, finishing polishing. It softens the result of the other side.
It is therefore suitable for all whetstone users, enabling them to use their favorite stones over the long term.
You can then clean it with water, wipe it with a cloth and leave it to dry completely at room temperature.
