Description

The 240/1000 grit Wusaki by Suehiro Japanese sharpening stone lets you get the edge back on even the bluntest blades!

A double-sided stone for a complete job

Suehiro is a brand renowned in Japan for its top-quality professional sharpening stones. The specialist designs stones that are easy to use and long-lasting, making them ideal for beginners and expert sharpeners alike.

This stone features a #240 grit on the first side, a very thick grit perfectly suited to knife blades that are damaged, chipped or no longer cut at all. Passing your blade over this grit restores its sharpness.

The second side of the stone has a #1000 grit, ideal for completing the sharpening process. This medium grit will gently sharpen the edge of your knives, and as a finishing touch, it will even give a razor-sharp edge on certain knives with a hardness of around 55 HRC.

This double-sided sharpening stone rests on a black silicone base. This base helps ensure stability during sharpening. The silicone base is removable if you prefer to sharpen on a cloth or wooden cleat.

A robust, easy-to-use stone

The stone is made of Cerax ceramic by Suehiro. This ceramic has been fired at a very high temperature, making the stone extremely resistant to the risk of cracking. Your stone is an easy-to-use, durable sharpening accessory.

To design its stones, Suehiro goes through a number of precise stages, such as mixing the ingredients, molding the stones, drying and firing them, and finally carrying out quality control. This rigor, combined with Wusaki's knifemaking expertise, guarantees you a top-quality stone.

To use the stone, simply soak it in water for 5-10 minutes before use. In doing so, the stone becomes soaked for the most effective sharpening.

A small Nagura stone is supplied with the sharpening stone. This small stone is indispensable for sharpening your knives. It creates a slurry that facilitates the action of the stone. Simply rub it against the wet stone before use to release its abrasive particles. The Nagura stone increases theefficiency of your whetstone.

After use, it is important to rinse the stone with clean water to remove all small metal deposits and stone particles. Be sure to let the stone dry at room temperature before storing it, without placing it in direct sunlight as this could damage it.

Face 240 wears out too quickly / Face 1000 extra

I had a few burrs on the wire of eight steak knives (steel 1.4146 = brittle). So I attacked the first one with 240 grit. I had to stop at the end of the fourth because this face had hollowed out by a good quarter, requiring urgent straightening. Do you sell a replacement product? Should I use 120? Otherwise, the 1000 is impeccable, with very good feedback.
Answer: Hello, I recommend an Atoma #140 diamond stone. They have the advantage of remaining flat , which is useful for badly damaged knives! See you soon, Lola from Couteauxdechef
