Description
This Suehiro blade recovery kit will work wonders! You'll be able to clean a rusty, scratched knife whose blade has been tarnished by years of use.
Kit contains:
- Polishing liquid
- Green polishing stone
- An eraser stone to remove rust
- 1 flat support, 1 hollow support and 1 rounded support: all 3 are finished with a Velcro section for attaching the various finishing papers in the kit
- Strips of different grits of sandpaper (to be attached to the velcro on the supports)
- Felt-tip polishing pads (to be attached to the velcro on the supports)
How to use your Suehiro Japanese kit:
- Take your rusty knife, then use the eraser stone directly on it. Rubbing it over the steel surface will remove the rust and tarnish from your knife.
- If, however, small traces remain visible, you can use sandpaper. For this, you have 3 supports at your disposal, allowing you to adapt to the shape you want to rub. For example, for the flat side of a blade, use the flat backing. On the other hand, if you want to rub the edge of the knife, use the hollow holder, etc. Attach your sandpaper, adjusting the grit to suit your needs (thick, medium or fine). Note that the thickest grit may well leave marks on the steel. You can use the finest grit sandpaper to polish these marks. Remember, don't rub too hard with the sandpaper, or you'll leave large scratches on the blade. Go gently and gradually, varying with the different grits offered.
- Next, keep your supports and place your polishing felt on them. First apply the green stone (or a little polishing liquid), then rub with the felt to polish the steel surface.
- Then apply polishing liquid to the blade and rub gently with a soft cloth.
- You're done! Of course, your blade won't look quite as good as it did when you first used it - it may show a few small marks - but the main rust and dullness will be erased.
- Clean your blade well before using it on your food. You can also run it over a whetstone to restore its sharpness.
Please note: kit colors may vary according to manufacturer's availability.
