Bring 100 years of French savoir-faire into your kitchen.
Established since 1885 in the Loire region of France, the Chabret workshops specialize in the creation of high-quality logs and cutting boards. Thanks to this century of experience, Chabret now presents a cutting board of unparalleled quality, and 100% French construction.
Entirely handcrafted in France, each board is the fruit of a meticulous manufacturing process. From the rigorous selection of hornbeam wood in the forests of the Jura to manufacture in the Chabret workshops in the Loire, every stage is meticulously cared for.
Thanks to their "end-wood" process, the craftsmen who make these exceptional utensils get the very best out of hornbeam. Traditionally renowned for its strength, the wood of this slow-growing tree is extremely difficult to split. By cutting the wood at right angles to the trunk fibers to create cobblestones, Chabret cabinetmakers create a worktop with perfect shock-absorption capacity. Knife blows or shocks during cutting are applied in the direction of the fiber, so the log cannot chip or break.
The worktop is then framed by 4 solid hornbeam boards, held in place by stainless steel brackets for even greater durability.
All in all, the care and expertise applied to these products guarantee impeccable quality in every respect. Robust, your cutting surface will stand the test of time. Manufactured to NF food hygiene standards, it will always remain smooth and healthy, whatever use you make of it.
The exceptional quality of its production has earned the Chabret workshops the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label and membership of the Ateliers d'Art de France. Alain Ducasse uses Chabret in his kitchens around the world, and Hugo Desnoyer has equipped his butcher's shop in the 16th arrondissement of Paris with Chabret. So much so, in fact, that these products even came to light on the small screen when a certain cooking show supplied its contestants with Chabret cutting boards.
And while their robustness sets them apart, their aesthetic appeal is not to be outdone. The nobility of the wood combined with careful construction and finishing give Chabret cutting boards a timeless lustre, equally at home in a modern kitchen or a more rustic environment.
Care instructions :
If wood is not regularly nourished, it has a tendency to warp: as wood works, it shrinks and expands under the effect of humidity and temperature, eventually causing cracks. To avoid this, this type of high-end board needs to be maintained with mineral oil or special waxes. After each wash, dry the board with a cloth. Once dry, coat with cutting-board oil and rub with a cloth or paper towel. Ideally, oil the board until it no longer absorbs oil. We recommend oiling the board once a week.
