Takeshi Saji R2 Nickel Damas knives feature a damascened blade, i.e. a blade constructed from several layers of mixed steel. At the center of the blade isJapanese R2 steel, a stainless alloy derived from powder metallurgy, quite rare in cutlery. With a hardness of 63 HRC on the Rockwell scale, its cutting edge is durable and easy to sharpen with a Sharpening stone. Microscopic examination reveals a perfectly homogeneous structure that ensures superior strength. This core is surrounded by several layers of stainless steel and steel highly enriched with nickel, which gives it its darker color. It's this blend of the two that creates the random but highly aesthetic contrast throughout the blade.

This wood is resistant to bacteria and can be considered precious, depending on the maturity of the tree from which it comes. Each handle has its own unique veins.
