Cast iron utensils: cooking utensils

Adopted for many years by top chefs, cast-iron cookware is now just as popular with amateurs and cooking enthusiasts! And with good reason: cast-iron cookware is of the highest quality, with excellent durability. The discovery of cast iron dates back hundreds of years, and was once used in construction. In 1781, the world's first large metal bridge was built in England, entirely in cast iron! Cast iron is therefore an entirely natural material made from a carbon-enriched iron alloy. In the kitchen, there are two types of cast iron: natural cast iron and enamelled cast iron. Natural cast-iron cookware is unfinished, and needs to be tumbled to improve its natural non-stick properties over time. Enamelled cast-iron cookware, on the other hand, is coated with a layer of enamel that protects the cast iron from oxidation and adds non-stick properties. This coating remains fragile, however, and wears off over time. Natural cast iron is healthier, while enamelled cast iron is more practical!
