The Fukito Rosewood DamascusUniversal knife is a great value, offering you something made of quality materials at a unique price. Versatile and easy to handle, it can be used to cut fruit and vegetables, but its size also enables it to slice small pieces of meat (without bone).
Like every Fukito kitchen knife, it is made in the Guangdong province of Western China. This location has been historically linked to cutlery production for decades. Production techniques and materials meet the manufacturing standards of French food industry professionals.
A damascened blade:
Damascus is a hard core of rigid steel surrounded by several layers of less rigid steel. Alternating these layers creates a unique visual effect every time.
Damascus also produces a balanced blade. This knife features a 10CR15COMOV stainless steel core. This alloy has a carbon content of 1.05%, making the cutting edge stiffer and retaining its sharpness longer. You can then sharpen it more sharply to obtain an impeccable edge. Its chromium content is also interesting, at around 15%, making the blade more resistant to corrosion.
This core is then surrounded by layers of less rigid stainless steel, to balance it out. This gives the blade more flexibility, but not flexibility in the literal sense. Rather, we're talking about "suppleness" in the face of possible shocks, to avoid breakage (as steel that's too rigid is more likely to chip).
The blade is also vacuum heat-treated. This process is advantageous because, during standard heat treatment, certain elements present in the air can react with the metal, even during quenching. This is the case, for example, with oxygen, hydrogen... And this can have an impact on the blade. Here, heat treatment takes place in a protected atmosphere, free from all elements. As a result, the blade can be processed to its full potential.
The hammered surface contrasts with the damascus.
Between the blade and the handle is a stainless steel bolster.
A handle to match:
It's crafted from rosewood in beautiful, unique shades. Please note that wood is a living material, so the rendering differs on each piece, and that's perfectly normal. Its main tones range from brown to dark red, with attractive dark veins providing contrast. It's an exotic species known for its resistance to humidity and shock. Finally, the handle has been hand-polished.
3 rivets hold the rosewood to the full tang blade. In addition, the central rivet is a mosaic that adds character to the knife. The handle is ergonomically shaped, with a slightly curved base that sits comfortably in the palm. Ambidextrous use.
Give it as a gift or treat yourself with its magnetic storage case.
The knife should be washed by hand using a sponge and mild detergent. Do not put it in the dishwasher or soak it. Once clean, wipe dry and store.
