The handle of this paring knife is made of resin, a durable and resistant material. The blue resin matches the light-colored wood at the base of the handle. A black and yellow ring between bolster and handle adds a distinctive touch of color. The stainless steel bolster and base complete the ensemble.
The almost oval handle is equally suited to right- and left-handed cooks, offering an ergonomic grip even during prolonged use in the kitchen.
This knife features a damascened blade with a rigid steel core, covered by 66 layers of softer stainless steel. The blade is polished to a mirror finish and features a distinctive damascened pattern.
The core of the blade is made of VG10 steel, an alloy composed of around 1% carbon. This element increases the blade's hardness, reaching 60HRC on the Rockwell scale. In addition, VG10 steel is enriched with chromium and molybdenum for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Thanks to this hardness, the cutting edge can be maintained with a Sharpening stone or, more regularly, with a Sharpening steel.
Made in China, this kitchen knife is presented in a gift box.
The paring knife is a practical model for small cuts! Its small blade is ideal for precise cuts, such as those on fruit or vegetables. However, avoid using it on hard foods such as squash or frozen foods.
To care for your Kutoyama knife, wash by hand only and dry immediately before storing in a dry place. Do not put in the dishwasher or soak in the sink.
