Easily cut meat, vegetables and fish with this Ideal Forgedsantoku knife!
Sabatier Éléphant is a brand of Thiers Issard cutlery based in France. The cutlery maker handcrafts top-quality kitchen knives.
This santoku knife features a 17cm blade in 4116 stainless steel, an alloy containing chromium, molybdenum and vanadium. This composition enables the blade to resist corrosion, deformation and wear, while having a hardness of 55HRC for easy maintenance. The blade is with granton edgeto prevent food sticking to it. They are particularly effective for fatty foods such as salmon.
The knife blade is a full tang blade, as it measures the entire length of the knife. It is hand-forged by a hot-forging process, then immersed in 2 oil baths: quenching and tempering. These baths allow the steel molecules to bind together, resulting in a sturdy blade. The blade is then passed over a grinding wheel equipped with leather rollers that sharpen and shape the cutting edge.
The santoku handle is made from olive wood, a robust wood typical of the Mediterranean. The wood's golden hue and distinctive grain make each knife unique. For added strength, the handle is pressed against the blade by 3 brass rivets.
The santoku features a round aluminum bolster for a lightweight, well-balanced knife. What's more, the shape of the handle ensures an ergonomic grip for pleasant use.
We recommend washing this knife by hand. As wood does not like contact with water, do not put the handle in the dishwasher or under water. Dry your knife immediately to ensure its longevity.
