The Yaxell Ketu Japanese steak knife is a top-of-the-range knife ideal for setting on your table!
This knife is a concentrate of efficiency and aesthetics. With its Ketu range, Yaxell offers you top-of-the-range knives with exceptional properties.
Blade specifications
The steak knife's 11.3cm blade has a core of SG2 powdered steel, a high-quality alloy containing around 1.3% carbon and 15% chromium. It is expensive, but offers many advantages. It achieves a hardness of 63 HRC, enabling the knife to retain its sharpness for a long time, so you don't have to sharpen it too regularly with a water stone. Despite its high hardness, this knife is still easy to sharpen should the need arise. SG2 steel is also known for its purity. In fact, its microscopic structure is highly homogeneous, making it extremely resistant.
The core is then encased in folded stainless steel to create a 3-layer damascened San Maï blade. The damascening process is a meticulous technique designed to give the blade greater strength. The superimposed layers are visible on the cutting surface of the blade.
Superb hammering completes the blade. Located on the upper part of the blade, the hammering not only increases the blade's strength, but also prevents pieces of meat from sticking to the blade after cutting. You can also admire the Yaxell logo and brand engraved in the blade's hammering for an authentic finish.
Technical features of the handle
The blade is connected to the handle by two stainless steel bolsters. The handle is made of Pakkawood, a composite of laminated wood and resin. Pakka wood is prized for its strength and durability. Antibacterial, it is also resistant to temperature variations and humidity, without being porous. Your steak knife also boasts a beautiful black color punctuated by golden veining.
The curved shape of the handle ensures an excellent grip. A magnificent single mosaic rivet is located in the center of the handle. A real gem, it represents the traditional emblem of the Japanese samurai family.
Last but not least, Yaxell has not forgotten to work the base of the knife. It features a superb golden engraving of the kanji Ketu. Meaning "pure" or "unblemished", this detail gives your knife a finesse and elegance that add to its very high quality.
Care and maintenance
This top-of-the-range Japanese knife requires meticulous care to ensure its long-lasting performance. Do not use a dishwasher to clean the blade. Instead, wash by hand with a soft sponge and washing-up liquid in lukewarm water, avoiding running the knife handle under water. Dry the blade immediately with a dry cloth. You can then store your knife in your block, Bag or sheath. We recommend avoiding magnetic bars. Due to the hammering process, the knife may not fit on the magnet.
