This Cerax whetstone has been fired at very high temperatures, making it more resistant to the risk of cracking. It is easy to use and pleasant for all users.
It has two sides:
-Brick face #280: this thick grit is used to roughen a dull cutting edge, to remove waste accumulated on the surface of the cutting edge.
-White face #1500: this grit is considered medium. Used regularly, it prevents your blade from becoming too dull.
Note that the two stone faces are bonded together by a black base, making them easy to handle.
Recommendations for use:
Soak the stone for about 5 minutes before use. You can reapply water to the surface of the stone during sharpening, when you feel it's necessary. You can do this directly by hand, or with a pipette, which is even more precise!
After a few minutes, you'll notice a small colored sludge forming at the point of contact between the knife and the stone, and this is perfectly normal. This "sludge" is even essential, as it helps to sharpen the knife, so don't clean it out during the process.
After use, you can rinse the surface and clean it with a soft brush. Wipe with a dry cloth, then leave to dry in a room at room temperature (keep out of direct sunlight for faster drying).
Additional tools :
A small white Nagura stone (approx. 6.5 x 1.8 x 1 cm) is supplied with the stone. This is used to create the famous slurry that facilitates the stone's action.
A box allows you to store it, but it can also be used as a sharpening stand when in use, or as a small basin for soaking the face you want before use. The box also has a space for a small Nagura stone. Its black feet are removable.
Please note: the stone's dimensions may vary by a few millimetres, and its weight by a few grams, which is perfectly normal.

Suehiro is a Japanese specialist in professional sharpening. Its stones are durable and pleasant to use.
To offer you quality products, the manufacturer takes care of every stage in the manufacture of its stones, from research and development to production.
Here are the important phases in the creation of whetstones:
- Mixing and stirring ingredients in large vats
- Press each stone into a rectangular shape
- Allow shaped stones to dry for a short time
- Bake to set
- Carry out the final moulding by hand (a craftsman passes the stone over a grinding wheel to ensure a clean finish)
- Quality control before the stones are placed in the packaging
