Description

Suehiro is a specialist in sharpening stones and dedicated sharpening utensils. Based in Japan, Suehiro develops accessories for professionals and hobbyists alike.

Suehiro sharpening stones are renowned for their efficiency and durability. With Suehiro, you can be sure that your favorite knives will be well cared for, to reveal their full cutting potential!

This Suehiro Debado S 800SNE stone has been developed using a firing process that does not contain any synthetic binder. Thanks to its durability, it is particularly recommended for professional use, but is also suitable for domestic use!

Its #600 grit is considered thick/medium. It is recommended for preparing the blade of a fairly blunt knife for further sharpening. In effect, it will sand the edge, which is beginning to be quite blunt, to clean it up. You can combine it with higher grits for a perfect finish.

Slightly thinner than the other stones in the Debado range, the S series offers excellent value for money.

How to use:

As it is non-absorbent, it just needs to be moistened, which saves you time (no need to immerse it for ten minutes before use).

You'll notice a small colored sludge forming on the surface of the stone, and this is perfectly normal. This "sludge" is even essential, as it helps to sharpen the knife, so don't clean it during the process.

After use, you can rinse the used surface and clean it with a small, soft brush. Wipe it with a dry cloth, then leave it to dry in a room at room temperature (keep it out of the sun so that it dries faster).

Good to know:

- A small Nagura stone is supplied to create the famous mud that facilitates the stone's action. As already mentioned, this reinforces the abrasive power of the stone, and thus increases its effectiveness.

- A transparent box with feet is available, allowing you to stabilize the stone during use. It is removable, so you don't have to use it if you prefer to place the stone on a cloth, for example.

- The stone is attached to a white base.

Please note: the stone's dimensions may vary by a few millimetres, and its weight by a few grams - this is quite normal.

Very good item, quick and practical to use, well made, perfectly flat surface, no nasty surprises. The additional stone for maintenance/formation of the initial "sludge" is welcome. The storage tray is a considerable plus, and also practical. The grit allows me to start sharpening and then move on to 1000 then 3500, saving a little time on very dull blades. The quality/price ratio seems to me very good, a good "investment".

Very (very) good value for money, perfect flatness, very good sharpening quality, delivered in a well-made box/stand that's handy for storing and protecting the stone. I was worried that the 600 grit would be a bit coarse, but it feels great when sharpened, it's perfect, and above all, it means I'll spend much less time on the 1000 grit. As usual, fast, well-packaged delivery. A chef's job!
