Satake Helios Japanese knives are robust, high-performance and pleasant to hold. They are made in Seki, Japan, by a company founded in the mid-50s by a Japanese weapons master who forged Samurai swords. Drawing on these years of experience, the company now offers knives that combine undeniable ancestral know-how with cutting-edge technology, for remarkable results.
This 15cm Universal knife is ideal for slicing fruit and vegetables, but its long blade also makes it capable of mincing meat (without bones, of course). Slim and easy to handle, it's versatile and a pleasure to use.
It features a damascened blade with a core of VG10, a quality steel renowned in the cutlery world for its 1% carbon content. This high carbon content makes it much more robust over the long term, and ensures that it stays sharp over time. It is surrounded by 34 layers of folded damascus (making a total of 69, as the blade core is counted), i.e. hard and soft steels arranged alternately on top. So, as well as giving it an original style, damascus provides just the right amount of hardness and flexibility to the blade, which proves less brittle while still being solid and rigid.
You can also make out the manufacturer's logo affixed to the cutting surface on the right, proof of its authenticity.
The handle is made of micarta, an interesting composite material renowned for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity. It is made from resin and linen fibers, for an aesthetically pleasing finish between black and dark green. It also features a rivet and a steel base for perfect balance. Its straight shape makes it a pleasure to use, for right- and left-handers alike.
This Satake knife is available in a small, elegant cardboard box, making it the perfect gift. To care for the knife, run it under lukewarm water and clean with a sponge and mild soap. Then dry it directly and store it away from moisture. Of course, it should not be put in the dishwasher to preserve its original beauty and appearance.
This knife has been designed and manufactured to meet the needs of all chefs, especially those who demand quality! Every cut will become a real pleasure! Don't hesitate any longer and take advantage of Satake Helios knives on KnifeLeader!
