Satake Helios Japanese knives are durable, high-performance and comfortable to hold. They are designed in Seki, Japan, by a company founded in the middle of the 20th century by a Japanese weapons master who forged Samurai swords. Drawing on its many years of experience, the company now offers knives that combine ancestral know-how with cutting-edge technology, for optimum results.
This 17cm santoku knife is the multifunctional knife in Japanese form! Its curved blade enables you to chisel fresh herbs with precision, as it creates a natural pendulum movement. You can also chop, slice... In short, it's practical for a whole host of cutting tasks!
Its damascened blade has a core of VG10, a quality steel renowned in the cutlery world for its 1% carbon content. This high carbon content makes it much stronger over the long term, and ensures that its cutting edge stays sharp for a long time. It is surrounded by 34 layers of folded damascus (making a total of 69, as the blade core is counted), i.e. hard and soft steels alternating on its surface. So, as well as giving it an original style, damascus adds just the right amount of hardness and flexibility to the blade, which is less brittle but still quite rigid. You can see the manufacturer's logo on the cutting surface on the right, proof of its authenticity.
The handle is made of micarta, an interesting composite material: it is resistant to high temperatures and humidity. It is made from a blend of resin and flax fibers, for an aesthetically pleasing finish between black and dark green (striations reminiscent of wood grain can be seen). It also features a rivet and a steel base to perfect its balance. Its straight shape makes it a pleasure to use, for right- and left-handed users alike.
This Satake Japanese knife is available in a small, elegant cardboard box, perfect for gift-giving. To care for the knife, run it under lukewarm water and clean with a sponge and mild soap. Then dry it immediately and store it away from moisture. Of course, to preserve its original appearance, it should not be put in the dishwasher.
This knife has been studied and designed to meet the needs of all chefs, especially those looking for quality! Every cut will become a real pleasure! Don't hesitate any longer and take advantage of Satake Helios knives!
