These kitchen knives feature a damascus steel blade: a process in which a rigid steel core is forged, then surrounded by several layers of softer steel. This technique optimizes the blade's balance while effectively protecting its core.
The core of these Fukito knives is made of 10CR steel. This alloy is rich in carbon (around 1%), which increases its hardness. With a hardness of 60HRC on the Rockwell scale, these knives offer excellent cutting performance and durability.
Around the core, 66 layers of softer stainless steel are added to reinforce the blade. This gives the blade a certain suppleness (without making it flexible) and reduces the risk of breakage during use. In addition to its practical qualities, damascus offers a unique aesthetic aspect: fine, elegant waves are drawn along the blade thanks to the superimposition of the different layers of steel.
The blades of these damascus knives feature hammering that gives them a unique character. This hammering is not only aesthetic, it is also functional, as it prevents food from sticking to the blade when cutting.
What's more, the blades feature a rough forged finish, adding an authentic, rustic touch, particularly prized by chefs.
The handles of these knives are made from ebony wood, an exotic species renowned for its strength and durability. This dense wood offers excellent resistance to humidity and warping. Its dark color and natural grain add a distinctive touch of elegance to every Fukito knife.
To complete the handle, a stainless steel base and bolster are integrated to optimally balance your kitchen knives. These elements are linked by two gold edgings that add a touch of elegance. A mosaic rivet secures the handle, ensuring reliability in use.
With their hexagonal shape, these damascus knives are suitable for all cooks, whether right- or left-handed. The handle offers an ergonomic grip, guaranteeing comfort of use, even during long cooking sessions!
The knives are presented in a protective box, ideal for gift-giving!
Fukito kitchen knives are produced in the Gunangdong province of Western China. It's a place with a long history of knife-making, dating back several decades.
To care for your damascus knives, wash only by hand with a non-abrasive sponge, taking care not to wet the handle. After washing, dry immediately to remove all traces of moisture and store in a dry place. Don't put them in the dishwasher, and don't let them soak in the sink.
