These kitchen knives feature a damascened blade structure. This technique consists of forging a rigid steel core, which is then surrounded by several layers of softer steel. This process balances the blade of your knives, while protecting their core.
The core of these Fukito knives is made of 10CR steel. This alloy contains an enriched carbon content of around 1%, an element that increases the steel's hardness. On the Rockwell scale, the hardness of these knives is 60HRC: they have a high-performance cutting edge and retain their sharpness for a long time.
Then, 66 softer layers of stainless steel are added around the core to give your blade added strength. As a result, the blade becomes softer (without becoming flexible) and less brittle with use. Damascus is also a real visual advantage: it forms fine, elegant random waves that are created by the superimposition of the different layers of steel.
The blades of these damascus knives have been hammered for added character. Hammering is also practical, as it prevents your food from sticking to the sides of your blades when cutting.
Last but not least, these blades have a rough forged finish to add an extra touch of authenticity. It's very popular with chefs for its rustic look!
The handles of these damascus knives are made from ebony, an exotic wood species that is robust and durable. It is composed of a high density for greater resistance to moisture and deformation. This wood has an elegant dark hue with a natural veining.
To complete the handle, a stainless steel base and bolster are added to balance your kitchen knives. These elements are linked by 2 gold edgings that add a touch of finesse. What's more, the handles feature a mosaic rivet for added reliability in use.
Hexagonal in shape, these damascus knives are suitable for all cooks: right- or left-handed! The handles ensure an ergonomic grip for optimum comfort of use, especially during long cooking sessions.
Presented in a protective box, these knives are perfect as gift ideas!
Fukito kitchen knives are produced in the Gunangdong province of Western China. It's a place with a long history of knife-making, dating back several decades.
To care for your damascus knives, it's important to wash them only by hand with a non-abrasive sponge, avoiding wetting the handle. Once cleaned, they should be wiped dry immediately to remove all moisture and stored in a dry place. Never use a dishwasher, and never leave your knives to soak in the sink.
