A damascened blade that brings out the best in your vegetables
This 16cm nakiri Grand Chef Seigaiha damascus knife is ideal for all vegetable lovers. Made in Seki, the cradle of modern Japanese cutlery, it combines traditional design, cutting engineering and top-of-the-range materials.
The damascened blade features the traditional Seigaiha pattern. This ancestral motif appeared in the 6th century to illustrate the seas and oceans on sea maps. It literally means "blue sea and waves" and symbolizes peace, continuity and strength. The damask pattern is a contemporary interpretation of waves on the high seas, giving each piece a unique character and strong meaning.
A knife for clean, precise gestures
This 16cm Sakai Takayuki Japanese nakiri knife has a rectangular blade that is perfect for cutting vegetables. It enables clean, precise and repeated cuts, with no pendulum effect. The straight edge is ideal for precise slicing, chopping and chiseling.
The blade of this knife contains a core of Swedish Böhler stainless steel, renowned for its structural stability, corrosion resistance and high purity. The core is then coated with 44 layers of stainless steel, forming the 45-layer damascus. This multi-layer design balances flexibility, strength and cutting performance.
The wire'sflat cross-section enhances cutting finesse, and its hardness of around 60 HRC on the Rockwell scale guarantees excellent resistance over time. A mirror polish has been applied to the blade to enhance the Seigaiha damascus and ensure a totally smooth surface. The blade glides more easily over food.
An original Pakkawood handle
The 10.7cm handle of this Seigaiha Grand Chef nakiri damascus knife is made of black Pakkawood. This composite material is made from heat-compressed wood and resin, and is highly resistant to humidity and temperature variations.
The handle has a hybrid shape: the part close to the bolster is oval, in the Western style, for an ergonomic, reassuring grip. Extending towards the rear, the shape evolves into a typically Japanese octagon, for a firmer, more precise grip. The handle provides an excellent grip for both right- and left-handed users.
A stainless steel bolster and heel complete the handle, giving it robustness and optimum balance in the hand. This makes use smooth and comfortable, even during long cutting sessions.
