A few words about the manufacturer:
Suehiro is an expert in sharpening stones and dedicated sharpening utensils. Hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun, he designs accessories to suit everyone, whether you're a passionate amateur or a professional in the culinary arts!
Suehiro's reputation is well established, and you should know that Suehiro sharpening stones are renowned for their efficiency and durability. With Suehiro, you can be sure that your favorite knives will be well cared for, to reveal their full cutting potential!
The stone and its use :
This Suehiro Debado S 1200SNE stone is designed using a firing process that means it contains no synthetic binder. Thanks to its durability, it is particularly recommended for professional use, but is also ideal for domestic use.
Its #1000 grit is considered medium. It is suitable for most knives, for finishing or regular maintenance, depending on the hardness of your blades. In fact, it is the grain most commonly used in cutlery.
S series stones are a little thinner than the other stones in the Debado range, so they offer excellent value for money! Please note that stone dimensions may vary by a few millimeters, and weight by a few grams - this is perfectly normal.
Its surface is non-absorbent, so it only needs to be moistened, which saves you time (no need to immerse it for ten minutes before use).
A small colored sludge is created after a few passes of your blade over the surface of the stone, and this is perfectly normal. This "sludge" is actually very important, as it helps to sharpen the knife, so don't clean it off during the process.
Once you've finished using it, you can rinse and clean it with a small, soft brush. Wipe it dry with a cloth, then leave it to dry in a room at room temperature (keep it out of the sun so that it dries faster).
Further information :
- The stone is attached to a non-removable white base for greater stability.
- A small Nagura stone is supplied to create the famous slurry that facilitates the stone's action. As mentioned above, it reinforces the abrasive power of the main stone, thus increasing its effectiveness.
- A transparent box with feet is available, enabling you to stabilize the stone during use. It is removable, so you don't have to use it if you prefer to place the stone on a cloth, for example.
