Description

This Cerax Japanese whetstone has been fired at very high temperatures, making it more resistant to cracking. It is durable, yet easy to use.

Its #6000 grit is considered very fine, so it is recommended for polishing the edge of your blades to reveal their full potential.

Created by Suehiro, a Japanese specialist in professional sharpening stones. He is dedicated to developing practical, long-lasting stones that even novices can enjoy using, as stone sharpening can be impressive if it has never been done before.

Suehiro manages every stage in the manufacture of its stones, from research and development to production. First, the ingredients are mixed and stirred in large vats. Each stone is then shaped into a rectangle using a press, and left to dry for a short time. They are then fired, and a craftsman passes the stones over a grinding wheel to ensure a clean finish. Finally, quality control is carried out.

Worth knowing:

The stone must be soaked in water for 5 minutes before use. You can reapply water to the surface of the stone during sharpening, whenever you feel it's necessary. You can do this directly by hand, or with a pipette for greater precision.

After a few moments' use, you'll notice a small colored sludge forming on the surface of the stone, and this is perfectly normal. This "sludge" is even essential, as it helps to sharpen the knife, so don't clean it during the process.

After use, you can rinse the used surface and clean it with a small, soft brush. Wipe with a dry cloth, then leave to dry in a room at room temperature (keep out of direct sunlight for faster drying).

Complementary accessories:

A small Nagura stone (7.3 x 1.8 x 1 cm) is supplied with the stone. This small, white model makes it possible to create the famous mud that facilitates the stone's action. As we've said, this reinforces the stone's abrasive power, thus increasing its effectiveness.

The stone is attached to a non-slip base, which ensures stability when in use.

Please note: the stone's dimensions may vary by a few millimetres, and its weight by a few grams - this is perfectly normal.
