Fukito Pakka San Mai knives meetthe needs of chefs and enthusiasts alike.
Fukito kitchen knives are designed in the heart of Guangdong province, Western China. For decades, this place has been historically linked to knife production. Each Fukito knife is designed using techniques and materials that meet the manufacturing standards of French professionals in the agri-food sector.
The set includes :
- 1 9cm paring knife: a precision knife ideal for small cuts and for peeling fruit and vegetables;
- 1 12.5cm utility knife: slightly larger, it is ideal for cutting larger fruits and vegetables;
- 1 21cm chef's knife: the ultimate all-rounder for cutting everything (boneless meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, fresh herbs, etc.).
Find out more about the knife :
The blade features a San Maï structure, which means it's built up of 3 layers: a rigid core enveloped by a layer of softer steel that comes to protect it. The alloy is more balanced and resistant, and this superimposition of layers is visible on the bottom of the blade, where a small wave can be seen.
The heart of the blade is made of 10Cr15CoMoV stainless steel, which is very similar to VG10 steel in that, like VG10, it contains high levels of chromium and carbon to enhance its performance.
Carbon, with a content of 1.05%, has a direct impact on the steel's rigidity, enabling it to hold its edge over the long term. The result is a hardness of +/- 60HRC on the Rockwell scale. Chromium, at 15.5%, improves oxidation resistance, among other things.
This core is then wrapped on both sides in mild stainless steel for added protection.
In addition, the blade has undergone a special vacuum heat treatment. Unlike standard heat treatment, where certain elements present in the air (hydrogen, oxygen...) can react with the metal, a vacuum process creates a protected atmosphere to keep all alloy components intact. This makes the process much more advantageous.
A stainless steel bolster links the blade to the handle. Its gently sloping surface makes for an easy, natural grip.
Last but not least, the blade features an attractive satin/blurred finish on both sides, for an unprecedented effect!
The handle is made of pakka wood or pakkawood. This composite material combines laminated wood and hot-compressed resin. The result is a material that's perfect for kitchens, since it's resistant to shock and humidity. An attractive central mosaic rivet accompanies the handle, adding exoticism and originality to the knife. The luminous shades of Pakkawood contrast nicely with the satin-finish blade, and a red/gold border links the two.
A stainless steel base finishes the handle and balances the knife's weight, making it a natural to use. The handle is suitable for both right- and left-handed users.
Knife care:
We recommend washing by hand with a sponge and mild detergent. Once the knife is clean, wipe it dry immediately to remove all traces of moisture and store it. Do not use the dishwasher or soak the knife in the sink.
