This 12cmUniversal knife is slightly larger than its counterpart, the paring knife. Its fine blade is just as recommended for cutting fruit and vegetables, but on a larger scale. It's easy to handle, making everyday cutting a breeze.
Wusaki kitchen knives in the Pakka X50 range are ideal for all cooks, whether professional or amateur, who want quality without compromise! The materials and manufacturing processes used to create these knives are studied and chosen for their performance, durability and ergonomics. An effective, authentic design adds to all these advantages, making them as pleasing to the eye as they are to use.
This knife features a German stainless steel blade, alloyed with X50CrMoV15. This steel is renowned for its durability and ease of maintenance (both sharpening and washing). Its high chromium content (15%), for example, makes it resistant to corrosion. Its carbon content is 0.5% (for hardness), and it is also enriched with Molybdenum and Vanadium (for shock resistance and elasticity, to make it less brittle).
As a result, its final hardness is between 56/58 HRC on the Rockwell scale. This is a very good ratio between edge life and maintenance. For this, you can use one of Wusaki's stones!
The upper part of the blade is hammered with a press, creating unique and different patterns on each blade. In addition to its elegant appearance, hammering is ideal for enhancing the knife's non-stick properties (as would be the case with honeycombing).
The brand logo is laser-engraved on the cutting surface with a glossy finish. The V-edge cutting edge is formed on a strip of leather at a 15° angle. Penetration of food is clean and effortless. Food is cut with precision, and its fibers are not broken or damaged. The knife's cutting quality is noticeable right from the first use!
The handle of this Wusaki knife is also a notable feature of this cutlery piece! It's made of Pakkawood: a composite material much appreciated in the kitchen for its durability and sturdiness. It is produced using laminated wood and resin, all hot-pressed together. The overall result resembles natural wood due to the unique veins running across its surface. Pakkawood is not only antibacterial, but also resistant to temperature variations and humidity (it is said to be rot-proof). It has been varnished for extra protection against moisture and stains. Its simple, straight shape makes it comfortable to use for both right- and left-handed users! Its highly original red sheen highlights the blade's hammered steel, and the cap engraved with the Japanese character "Tiger" at its tip. Wusaki handles are made slightly longer than the current cutlery market average, to be more comfortable to use whatever the size of your hand.
Last but not least, the Wusaki Pakka X50 knife's clean, efficient styling: the combination of materials and contrasting colors makes it an exceptional, timeless piece. It will charm the most uncompromising of cooks.
This Wusaki knife is supplied in a high-quality black box to protect it from shocks. The tiger-decorated box is very elegant, allowing you to give it as a gift without blushing!
For maintenance, we recommend gentle hand-washing in lukewarm water with a mild soap. You can then wipe the knife with a soft cloth and store it in a dry place. Please note: on delivery, the knife blade is lightly coated with protective oil. Simply wash before 1st use to remove.
Wusaki knives are manufactured by a small company located north of the city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in Western China. This province is historically renowned for its knife-making expertise. Wusaki expertise is entirely governed by French manufacturing standards established for professionals in the sector.
