Details of the two knives
The blade
The blade of these knives features a core of top-grade 10Cr steel. This alloy is already world-renowned for its excellent, long-lasting strength and cutting performance (which can be sharpened to razor-sharp precision). Its alloy is 1.05% carbon, giving it excellent strength at around 60 HRC on the Rockwell scale. This feature helpsavoid repetitive sharpening.
Once the core has been shaped, it is surrounded by 67 layers of damascus. Damascus is the age-old process of skilfully superimposing different layers of steel (hard and soft) around the core of the blade. In principle, the hard steel reinforces the knife's strength, while the soft steel lends it a slight suppleness (making it less brittle without making it flexible). Damascus is also visually very pleasing, with waves rippling across the cutting surface, for a breathtaking visual effect (and it's unique to each knife!). The top of the blade has been press-hammered, creating unique patterns on each blade. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, hammering is appreciated for increasing the knife's non-stick properties (a bit like honeycombing).
For even greater authenticity, you can see that the brand name and range have been laser-engraved on the blade. The blade has a mirror-polished finish, for an impeccable look, while becoming more resistant to corrosion (as polishing flattens the surface of the steel to make it less porous).
Sharpening
The cutting edges of these two knives have been worked into a "V" shape, so that penetration into food is effortless (their fibers are not broken and their taste is respected). Final sharpening is carried out by hand, on a moving strip of leather. They are worked at a cumulative angle of 30°. The result is formidable: you'll feel it from the very first use - no need to force it!
The handle
The handle is one of the Wusaki Damascus 10Cr knife's strong points, and is made from olive wood. The wood has been sanded and treated for a soft, pleasant feel. This warm, noble wood, with its characteristic fruity scent, contrasts perfectly with the cold appearance of the steel. Its veins are unique on each knife: guaranteed cachet!
Each handle is unique! Colors, patterns and grain can vary according to the parts of the wood used to make the handles. Some parts are darker than others, depending on the knots in the wood, for example. This is perfectly normal.
It has been designed with an original, ergonomic shape, so that it sits naturally in the palm and enhances your comfort. In this way, the thumb and forefinger can retain their full strength with every use, for absolute knife control. Finally, it should be noted that Wusaki handles are slightly longer than the current cutlery market average, to accommodate larger hands.
The base engraved with the Japanese character"Tiger" gives the knives a perfect finish. Its sandblasted appearance contrasts with the smooth surface of the steel. The three red edgings add an extra touch of elegance. Attention to detail is taken very seriously.

Wusaki knives are manufactured by a small company located north of the city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in Western China. This province is historically renowned for its knife-making expertise. Wusaki expertise is entirely governed by French manufacturing standards established for professionals in the sector.
For care, we recommend gentle hand-washing in lukewarm water with neutral soap. You can then wipe the knives with a soft cloth and store them in a dry place.
When washing, try to keep the handles as dry as possible, as wood does not like to get wet. From time to time, you can also wipe them with a soft cloth soaked in olive oil, to add shine and protection.
Please note: when you receive your knives, the blade is lightly coated with protective oil. Simply wash them before 1st use to remove it.
The Damascus 10Cr olive wood range is incompatible with magnet bars due to the depth of the hammering and the weight of the knives. Instead, store your knives in a block or briefcase!
